SCHOOL LIFE CONTRACT
(rules of procedure)
Preamble:
The rules of procedure of the Modern International School in Tangier define the rights and obligations of everyone.
Adhering to the following rules directly contributes to the success of your child’s education and training. These rules align with all actions of the Modern International School in Tangier, which are focused on ensuring your child’s full integration into the school community. The aim is to complete the socialization of the child in an environment broader than that of the family.
For this purpose, students must integrate both rights and responsibilities and learn about school community life and its rules.
- Adherence to the rules of the school community and strict compliance with them.
- Personal development occurs through interactions with others.
- Development of a social consciousness that respects others.
- Gradual integration of the notions of duty and rights, which are inseparable.
- Gradual integration of parental school obligations as a determining factor in the child's educational and formative processes.
To achieve the objectives set forth in this school life contract, your continuous support and active involvement are indispensable conditions.
1. BASIC RIGHTS OF THE STUDENTs
Students have fundamental rights inherent to their status, which are mainly stated below:
- The right to have their physical and moral integrity respected.
- The right to equality of opportunity without distinction of sex, origin, or creed.
- The right to have their work and their property respected.
2. PARENTAL EDUCATIONAL OBLIGATIONS
Parents expressly agree to:
- Assume their educational responsibility and recognize the school as their child's primary learning place.
- Behave in a dignified and respectful manner in all school areas and outside the school, both with respect to the adults who work there and the students.
- tay informed about their child's school experience by consulting the information available to them (administrative notes, transcripts, report cards, telephone messages, etc.).
- Take all necessary extracurricular measures to support their child, including personal work supervision, academic support, and ensuring their child's attendance.
- Participate in all activities organized for them (information meetings, meetings between parents and teachers, etc.).
- Support administrative, pedagogical, contractual, and regulatory decisions taken within the framework of the school's mission.
Any failure to meet the above parental obligations may result in the non-enrollment of the student for the following school year or even the immediate termination of their current schooling.
3. SCHOOL HOURS AND VACATIONS
Enrollment at MIS MODERN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL implies a commitment on the part of the family to attend classes according to the schedule posted by the school. To ensure the proper functioning of the school, the posted schedules must be respected. During the period of Ramadan, schedules may be adjusted. School vacations will be determined according to the school calendar.

4. LATE ARRIVALS AND ABSENCES
Attendance and punctuality are essential to academic success. Students are expected to attend all classes and activities on time. Late students must report to the school office upon arrival.
Absences must be reported immediately by the family and justified by an appropriate document (e.g. medical certificate, administrative document) that should be submitted to the school office. No student is allowed to return directly to class after a delay or absence without an authorization ticket issued by the school office.
Students are responsible for keeping up with the lessons and classwork missed during their absence and will not be excused from evaluations upon their return. Any unjustified absence on the day of an evaluation will result in a grade of zero.
5. DRESS AND HYGIENE
The student is expected to maintain proper dress and hygiene in accordance with the school’s standards. Clothing that is see-through, torn, too short, too long, suggestive, or has an apparent fashion or membership effect is not allowed. The wearing of clogs or shoes with heels is also prohibited. Sportswear is only permitted during PE and dance classes.
Additionally, students are not allowed to wear any objects such as necklaces or piercings, tattoos, coloring, brands, slogans, or ostentatious signs. Personal hygiene and clothing are important elements of self-respect and respect for others.
Any student who violates the dress or hygiene rules will not be allowed to enter the school.
6. MOVEMENT AND CIRCULATION OF STUDENTS
Students are not allowed to remain in a classroom without authorization unless a teacher or supervisor is present. Also, students must not block or obstruct corridors and stairways. School personnel, including school staff, administration, and teachers, have the right and duty to intervene at any time, especially during student movements, recess, and in the immediate vicinity of the school, to prevent disorder and ensure safety.
7. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
During extracurricular activities, students may be required to perform group or individual tasks both inside and outside the school as part of a program established by the teacher and approved by the Pedagogical Direction. It should be noted that these tasks and activities are an integral part of the educational objectives or recommendations and are mandatory.
During the completion of these tasks as per the weekly timetable, students remain under the school’s supervision.
8. PHYSICAL AND SPORTS EDUCATION
The P.S.E. classes are scheduled for one to two hours per week, both inside and outside the school premises. The same attendance rules apply for P.S.E. classes as for regular classes within the school, including arriving on time and informing the school office about any absences. During the P.S.E. classes, students must wear appropriate sports clothing.
9. THE STUDENT'S EQUIPMENT AND PERSONAL EFFECTS
The student must have all original and blank textbooks as well as the supplies ordered by the teachers for their class.
The use of cell phones, portable music players, portable game consoles, and any other objects that may cause a disturbance is strictly prohibited in the school. Offenders will be sanctioned, and the devices will be confiscated and returned to the parents.
The school cannot be held responsible in case of exchange or loss of clothing. Dangerous or illicit products and objects are strictly forbidden from being introduced, carried, exchanged, or used.
It is not recommended to bring valuables or large sums of money to school. Students are responsible for managing their belongings, and the school cannot be held responsible for loss, damage, loan, sale, exchange, or theft. Any deliberate or negligent damage caused by a student to school furniture or equipment or that of others will result in financial responsibility for the parents.
10. THE CLEANLINESS OF THE PREMISES
Please remember to consume food and beverages only in designated areas and avoid chewing gum and lollipops. We all share responsibility for keeping the establishment clean. Let’s also show respect for the maintenance staff’s dignity by not doing anything that adds to their workload. Thank you for your cooperation!
11. HEALTH
Students must be up to date on their vaccinations. Parents whose children are undergoing permanent or temporary medical treatment must notify the administration in writing.
In the event of an accident occurring in the school during school hours, the student will be referred – if necessary – to a medical emergency service and the family will be notified. Beyond the half-day of the accident, the medical follow-up of the child must be assured by the parents.
Only accidents that are reported within the required time frame may be covered by our liability insurance.
12. RELATIONS WITH FAMILIES
The school regularly informs parents of its activities through telephone messages and administrative notes sent to parents through their children. These notes may concern the organization of semester evaluations, parent-teacher meetings, information meetings, class councils, and educational outings.
Teachers evaluate students on an ongoing basis and provide periodic transcripts and semester reports to families following the class council meeting. The Pedagogical Department is the main point of contact for discussing a student’s progress and assessment and is always available to families.
Parents can contact the school at any time if they have any questions or concerns.
13. THE USE OF PHOTOS BY THE SCHOOL
Within the framework of the established contractual relationship, the parents of the students accept the principle of allowing the school to freely use photos of their children taken in a school or activity setting for official school publications, such as brochures, websites, and social media. The school agrees not to alter or misuse the photos and not to share them with third parties.
14. SCHOOL INSURANCE
In addition to compulsory school civil liability, the school’s insurance covers school activities as well as extracurricular activities.
15. DISCIPLINARY MEASURES
Any instance of indiscipline or negligent behavior by a student that cannot be resolved through direct dialogue is subject to a report for a warning or sanction at the school level. The Pedagogical Direction has complete freedom to determine measures for prevention, support, and reparation and remains sovereign in its decision to initiate a disciplinary procedure.
Depending on the severity of the offense, the student may be subject to:
- A warning with or without detention and/or extra work.
- Temporary exclusion with probation.
- Permanent exclusion.
If a student breaches the rules by cheating, attempting to cheat, having an unjustified absence, using a cell phone, using insulting language, or by repeated lateness, detentions, or work sanctions, the student will be excluded for one day and must report to the school office upon their return.
For a first repeat offense during the year, the student will be excluded for three days.
In the case of a second offense or serious misconduct (such as physical or verbal violence, bringing or using a dangerous or prohibited object or product, undermining the image of the school or the dignity of the staff or students, etc.), the student is liable to a long-term exclusion or even permanent exclusion.
A student who is temporarily expelled from the school must catch up on all missed lessons or class work during their absence and will not be exempted from evaluations upon their return.
The Pedagogical Department may also take precautionary measures before deciding on a disciplinary sanction.
16. THE UPDATING OF THE INTERNAL REGULATIONS
The Rules of Procedure are not definitive for the current year. They may be updated based on the functioning and evolution of the regulations through internal information notes.
17. APPROVAL OF THE RULES OF PROCEDURE
Enrollment in the MIS Modern International School of Tangier implies full and unconditional acceptance of the school’s rules and regulations for the current school year.
